About the Longmeadow
Newcomers' Club…
Celebrating almost 50 years of forging friendships,
the Longmeadow Newcomers' Club is an organization of women who have
recently moved to Longmeadow.
The Club provides numerous opportunities
to meet and get to know other women in the community - some of whom have
just moved to town and others who have already settled into life in
Longmeadow.
Founded in 1963, the Club offers a variety of activities based on
diverse interests, including a monthly card game of Euchre, Ladies'
Gourmet cooking club, Children's Playgroup, Help for the Hungry
collection, and a monthly Book Club. In addition, the Club plans social
events throughout the year that provide many opportunities for spouses,
significant others and the entire family to get involved and have some
fun.
At present, annual dues are $40 (prorated after December) and membership
enables participation in as many activities as desired. The monthly
newsletter, which informs Newcomers of upcoming events and Club news, is
sent to all dues-paying members. Social events are held monthly from
September through June. In September and January, we host a New Members'
Open House to introduce the club to interested newcomers in town. Also
in September, we kick off our calendar year with an Activities Night to
orient all members on activities and events for the club year. We end
the year with a very special evening, the Social Soirée, usually held in
early June.
The Executive Board for
the 2011-2012 year is as follows:
President – Elisabeth Therrien
Co-Vice Presidents – Terri Bassett and Lisa Guardione
Treasurer – Usha Vig
Secretary – Ellen Donnelly
