Longmeadow Beautification Fund

Keeping the town gardens green and flower-filled in the spring, summer and fall depends on donations from our friends and neighbors. During winter, Gardeners on the Green donates wreaths and garlands to the town buildings and monuments. If you would like to support the Longmeadow Beautification Fund (administered by the Park Department), please send your donation to:

Garden Writing

The most noteworthy thing about gardeners
is that they are always optimistic, always enterprising, and never satisfied.
They always look forward to doing something better than they have ever done before.
Vita Sackville-West, 1892 – 1962

To dwell is to garden.
Martin Heidegger

Gardening is a humbling experience.
Martha Stewart

You can lead a horticulture but you can't make her think.
Dorothy Parker

Your first job is to prepare the soil.
The best tool for this is
your neighbor's motorized garden tiller..
If your neighbor does not own a garden tiller,
suggest that he buy one.
